Screen 6 is now colored. I'm changing the lettering of the storyboard comic again. I am sick of the ALL CAPS comic style lettering. While hanging around some online comic enthusiasts, I noticed that people put an inordinate amount of emphasis on lettering. In my opinion it is not that important. I notice that the Manga I read also uses an all caps format, but I just don't feel comfortable using that style myself. I just feel like I'm hitting any possible readers with a giant clown hammer. It really feels that silly to me. I mean, who uses all caps??
Furthermore, I really enjoy the liberty that punctuation and capitalization gives the creator. All caps takes away part of your ability to emphasize certain words without using bold or italic font. Regular case lettering with paragraph style punctuation may not be the mode for comics, but it really gives you more ways to express what the characters are saying.
Here's the rough linework for the drawing that will go on the world map. It will be featured in the "World" section when I get to it.
So I'm getting some coloring done:)
Screen 7 now has color... Yeah, it's more fun to paint characters, that's why I painted it first :p.
The Avarice now has a data driven news system! I have been working with the asp.net platform and MySql database to create a blog-like news posting system. It's really cool since these services are offered as a standard part of the hosting service from easycgi. I plan on adding features for user comments and hopefully an integrated forum eventually.
I gotta say, working with these programs is a blast, especially since it's all going to power my hobbies.
Here's Screen 8. My hands still need work, my shoed feet still need work. Drawing with flash's pencil tool isn't very easy either. I'm thinking of drawing 30 screens, then coloring them, then moving on to the next 30 screens...
